APPENDICITIS: SURGERY AND RECOVERY

Appendicitis is one of the common problem of inflammation of the appendix which is the short tube that extends from the large intestine. Appendicitis is one of the medical emergency that always requires the surgery to remove the inflamed appendix. If the infected appendix is not removed it may automatically lead to the burst which may further cause the spilling of infectious materials into the abdominal area. This condition is called as peritonitis. This situation of inflammation can be avoided by undergoing the small incision surgery to remove the appendix. The wounds caused by the spilling of infectious material on the abdominal wall can be cured by antibiotics. In extreme cases a pus-filled abscess formed outside the inflamed appendix. The abscess can be found to be the infectious material in some cases, so the surgery is suggested as emergencies in most of the cases. Appendectomy is a technique used to treat this condition in which the inflamed appendix is removed along with the portion of the intestine. Patient having the appendix can experience the pain in the near the navel or the upper or lower abdomen. Since the appendix is the vestigial organ there is no much loss in removing it due to inflammation.
