Cardiac
surgery are gaining great importance since now a days most of the cardiac
surgeries are gaining of great importance due to the high rate of prevalence of
cardiac diseases among the patients. One among the greatest development in this
field is the valve sparing or valve replacement surgery.
Valve
sparing or valve replacement surgery is generally done to treat the
aneurysm of aortic roots. Aneurysm refer to the excessive swelling in the
aortic roots. This surgical procedures helps to avoid the long term use of
anticoagulant and proves more promising. And it helps in reducing the chance of
occurring of the stroke and endocarditis.
If the patients aortic valve is completely diseased
and cannot be used further after the surgical procedure the bioprosthetic valve
can be used. It is one of the very tough aortic surgery procedure.
There exist two method of incision for this aortic
surgery, it includes
Traditional method: 8-12 inch incision for the
transplantation surgery.
Modern method: Minimally
invasive skin incision
The aorta is cut just above the openings where the
coronary arteries are attached to the aortic root. The diseased part of the
aortic valve are removed and the sutures are made.
Generally Herger’s dilators are used depending upon the
patients body size and the left ventricle outflow tract.
